This is a very displayable spiny trilobite. It is a huge Leonaspis sp. from Morocco. This amazing specimen was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This Leonaspis has a small occipital spine, with the genal spines and pleural spines relatively short compared to the long third pleural spines. This specimen has been expertly prepared, leaving the long pleural spines, genal spines, occipital spine, and bristle fringes of the free cheeks free-standing. The bug is aesthetically perched on a small pillar of matrix, showcasing the trilobite on the sculpted limestone block. This is a museum quality Leonaspis that simply displays beautifully.
