This is a rare multiple plate of an unusual European trilobite. These trilobites are Retamaspis melendezi from the Ordovician of Portugal. There are at least seven complete or partial specimens preserved on this plate. They are also preserved in a line, a ''wind row'', which is also quite unusual. The bugs have very nice natural color and contrast, and are well positioned on the large (4.2'' X 6.5'') rectangular plate of matrix. Many times, the trilobites from this area are on very small pieces of matrix and not very ''showy'' - not the case with this specimen. This is one of the most unusual and prolific multiple plates from Portugal that we have ever seen.
