This is an excellent Bumastus ioxus from the Rochester Shale of New York. This trilobite is complete and very 3-dimensional. It is prone and nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are present, which is quite unusual. The chocolate-brown exoskeleton is uncommonly intact and extremely well preserved. The brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. The bug is nicely presented on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale that also contains a large brachiopod and several other fossils. This is a very detailed example of this classic Silurian trilobite.
