This is an incredible plate of Lower Cambrian trilobites. It is a slab of five Olenellus sp. from British Columbia. This unique specimen was acquired from a major trilobite collection. The five trilobites on the plate are in two areas - one section with three bugs and one grouping of two. The two examples pictured are just amazing - the detail is fantastic. The one bug is about as complete and detailed as you could hope for, with the LONG tailspine fully intact. Near these two is a small meraspid (juvenile) trilobite - too small to photograph well. On the other side of the plate are two large counterpart Olenellus. The unusual feature of these bugs is that one was laying on top of the other one when they were fossilized. But this did not detract from their quality - both still have their tailspines intact. Overall, the one trilobite is simply as good as it gets, and in association with the four other Olenellus, it is truly a one-of-a-kind multiple plate from a site where a decent single is a heck of a find.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
