Wow, what an awesome trilobite! This is an ultra rare Sagittapeltis sp. from Morocco. This is one of the most amazing types of trilobites we have ever seen - more spines than body! This specimen was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, and the results are breathtaking. This trilobite was meticulously extracted from a cross-section block, ensuring that none of the minute details would be lost. The trilobite is beautifully articulated and wonderfully prone, which is extremely unusual for this type of trilobite. The very thin shell of the exoskeleton is incredibly well preserved, and all three of the LONG spines emanating from the head have been painstakingly prepared in a free-standing manner. The rest of the long, flowing spines are beautifully displayed - simply spectacular. The bug is naturally showcased in the center of a large, sculpted block of limestone. This is only the second complete example of this fabulous trilobite we have ever had, and, boy, is it a screamer! It is a world class trilobite fossil that words simply cannot describe.
