This is an excellent trilobite. It is a Metacanthina (=Asteropyge) issoumourensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This large trilobite has been meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS prep lab in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. The 3-dimensional bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail. The individual lenses of the large, crescent-shaped, compound eyes are easily seen, and the pointed lappets of the pygidium are all intact. The dark, chocolate-brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-brown matrix. The fossil is almost perfectly centered on the large, sculpted block of limestone. This is one of the better quality specimens of Metacanthina issoumourensis that we have had.
