Now this is an incredible spiny trilobite! It is a rare, ultra spiny Hoplolichas sp. from Russia. This huge specimen was prepared with all the spines, thorns, and pustules free-standing - just look at the close-up photos to see the extensive ornamentation on this trilobite. The bizarre array of prickly protuberances seems to go on forever. This is one trilobite that you could honestly say looks like a pincushion! It is one of only a few complete examples of this type ever prepared - and it is awesome! This impressive trilobite is almost too cool to be real! But believe me, it is real...it would be hard to dream up a trilobite this unique. And if that's not enough, there is also a very interesting cephalopod preserved on the plate. This is one of those special fossils that really pains us to part with.
