This is one of the largest Odontopleurid trilobites known. It is a complete Selenopeltis buchii from the Ordovician Beds of Morocco. This impressive fossil was prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This trilobite is preserved in dense sandstone, making the bug very inflated and 3-D. The thick shell exoskeleton is nicely preserved and contrasts well with the sculpted matrix. The large bug is beautifully articulated and wonderfully showcased on the rounded block of sandstone. This is a very well-prepared example of this huge spiny trilobite.
