This is a fantastic trilobite fossil. It is a beautiful Acanthopyge from Morocco. This type was composited from parts for years, because there had never been a complete specimen found. Over the last few years, though, a few complete ones have been unearthed, and this is one of them. This specimen was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. The preservation of this trilobite is exceptional - the thick shell exoskeleton is beautifully preserved and exhibits incredible detail - the fine pustulation is even seen with the naked eye. The bug also has amazing natural coloration - the different shades of brown are simply beautiful and quite striking. And the trilobite is very inflated and 3-dimensional, showcased in life-like fashion on the sculpted block of limestone. This is not only an excellent example of this rare Lichid trilobite, it is a spectacular display bug.
