This is a classic US trilobite. It is an excellent Isotelus maximus from Ohio. This type of trilobite is one of the most recognizable and sought-after trilobites in the world, especially because of its size. This type of trilobite has also been officially named the ''State Fossil of Ohio''. This specimen is complete, outstretched, and beautifully preserved. The thick shell exoskeleton is fully intact and has great detail - even the LONG genal spines are present. The chocolate-brown coloration of the bug is striking and fully natural. The large trilobite contrasts beautifully with the large, blue-grey matrix block. There is also a complete Flexicalymene preserved at the lip of the trilobite - this is fully natural and has not been added! This is a large, museum quality Isotelus maximus that could easily be the centerpiece of any trilobite collection.
