This is one of the rarest trilobites found in Russia. It is a complete Cyrtometopus primigenus lamanskii from the St. Petersburg area. This type of trilobite has a bulbous glabella, short genal spines, and short tail spines - it looks closer to a Cheirurus than a Ceraurus. And this specimen showcases these unique features beautifully. The trilobite is wonderfully outstretched and tightly articulated - the slight undulations in the body make it look as if it is crawling! The thick shell exoskeleton is incredibly well preserved and very finely detailed. The striking natural coloration makes it stand out against the beautiful, natural marbled block of sculpted matrix. Make no mistake, this is easily one of the best examples of this rare type ever found, a trilobite collectors dream piece.
