This is an extremely rare UK trilobite. It is a beautiful Acastoides sp. from the Silurian of England. Silurian trilobites from England are among the most sought-after trilobites for collectors, and this fine specimen was recently acquired from the famous Sam Stubbs Collection. This type of Phacopid trilobite is slightly different than the classic Acaste downingia from Dudley. This trilobite has a semitriangular cephalon with protruding, compound eyes, which are essentially perfect on this specimen. The fossil is quite inflated and beautifully articulated. The detail of the exoskeleton is simple amazing, since it was prepared by hand and not air abraided. The bug is wonderfully showcased on the rock and just seems to jump right up at you! If you know anything about the history of ''Dudley'' trilobites, you will understand how rare and exciting this gem truly is!
