This is a rare Portuguese trilobite. It is a complete Bathycheilus castilianus from the Lower Llanvirn Series. This specimen came to us from an old European collection - it still has the handwritten lable attached to the plate. The trilobite is complete and is very well articulated. The long genal spines are intact and run the entire length of the trilobite, which is rare. The bug has great contrast and is easily seen on the black plate of slate. This is one of the best quality and most displayable examples of this uncommon trilobite that we have encountered.
