This is one beautiful trilobite! It is a large Cheirurus ingricus (?) from the Ordovician of Russia. This wonderfully articulated bug is very well preserved and nicely inflated. The curving genal spines are wonderfully displayed, and the extremely long pygidial spines are prominently showcased. The fine detail of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is quite striking. The natural butterscotch coloration of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the light, buff-colored matrix. The large (almost five inches long) trilobite is aesthetically positioned on the sculpted plate of limestone that also contains two large cystoids. This is a very displayable specimen of this extremely aesthetic trilobite.
