This is a very fine specimen of Isabelina glabrata from the Ordovician of Portugal. It is somewhat compressed (but in a very attractive manner, we think) due to metamorphism of the strata in which the trilobite was found. This sleek-looking trilobite is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail. The large eyes are clearly defined, and the long, slender genal spines are nicely displayed. The bug has outstanding color and contrast, and is well positioned on the large (5.2" X 7.0"), natural plate of matrix. Many times, the trilobites from this area are on very small pieces of matrix and not very ''showy'' This is one of the more aesthetic examples of this trilobite that we have seen.
