This is an extremely unusual Russian trilobite. It is an unidentified Lichid from St. Petersburg, Russia. This specimen is from the Lower Ordovicial Kunda Level, and may be a precursor to the Middle Ordovician Hoplolichas furcifer. This specimen has two thin, smooth occipital horns, much thinner and less ornate than H. furcifer - these hook-like spines have been prepared free-standing on this specimen. The other very unusual feature of this trilobite is that the exoskeleton is relatively smooth - H. furcifer has 2-4 long, axial spines and MANY bumps and pustules. This bug is devoid of spines, and the surface of the shell is not what you would call ''ornate''. The trilobite itself is nicely showcased in the center of a natural-edged block of matrix - the bug displays beautifully. This is a very collectible example of this strange Lichid trilobite from Russia.
