This is an unusual Norinia convexa from the Ordovician of China. This type of trilobite has a very wide cephalon with stout, flaring genal spines. This bug is nicely inflated and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached, which is quite unusual. This specimen is well preserved in an outstretched position and exhibits fine detail. The small eyes are easily seen, and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. The natural dark coloration of the arthropod is quite striking and contrasts nicely with the greyish-brown matrix. The fossil is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an excellent example of this Ordovician trilobite from China.
