This is a huge example of a classic trilobite. It is an extremely large Phacops crassituberculata from the Devonian of Ohio. This type differs from Eldredgeops in the number of eye lenses and in the fact that it has angular, rather than round, eye facets. The trilobite is beautifully prone and very nicely articulated. It is preserved in a 3-dimensional manner and exhibits fine detail - the coarse pustules on the glabella are very easily seen. The eyes of the trilobite are nicely showcased - almost all of the individual lenses of both eyes are beautifully displayed. The trilobite has excellent chocolate-brown color that contrasts wonderfully with the light grey matrix. The bug is well positioned on the natural-edged block of limestone. And did I forget to mention this bug is THREE INCHES LONG - the almost unattainable size for outstretched Ohio Phacops! This is not only an excellent specimen of Phacops crassituberculata, it is one of the largest ever found - enough said.
