Here is a fine example of a Lower Cambrian trilobite. This is Olenellus chiefensis from the Pioche Formation of Nevada. This species of Olenellus has an extremely wide field between the brim and the glabella. This specimen of Olenellus chiefensis exhibits fine detail. The long pleural spines are quite evident and the large, crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen. The bug has wonderful orange coloration that contrasts nicely with the pinkish matrix. It is beautifully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very colorful example of an unusual species of Olenellus.
