This is an extremely rare specimen of Naraoia sp. from the famous Chengjiang locality in China. This site is known worldwide for soft-body preservation of Lower Cambrian animals. The fauna is very similar to the Burgess Shale, but it is OLDER! Many one-of-a-kind organisms have been described exclusively from this formation.
This soft-bodied trilobite is very well preserved (hard to see in photo). The bug exhibits great detail - even the legs, gills, and notochord are easily seen under magnification. This is a unique, delicately preserved example of this highly collectible trilobite from one of the most famous fossil localities in the world.
