This is a very nice, outstretched example of Kainops raymondi. This specimen was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab. This trilobite is differentiated from Paciphacops by the larger number of lenses in the eyes. This specimen exhibits very fine detail. The granulose glabella is nicely displayed, and the eyes of the trilobite are quite evident. The specimen is extremely inflated and 3-dimensional. The natural, caramel brown color of the trilobite contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The specimen is well positioned on the natural block of limestone. This is an excellent example of a Kainops from the Lower Devonian.
