This is a beautiful specimen of Neometacanthina sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This unusual type of trilobite has very small eyes, extremely long, wide genal spines, and many long pygidial spines - all of these features are clearly defined and well displayed on this specimen. The prone bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. The individual lenses of the eyes are easily seen, and the pointed pygidial lappets are all intact. The trilobite has excellent color and contrast and is well presented on the expertly sculpted plate of dense limestone. This is a very collectible example of this uncommon trilobite from the Atlas Mountains.
