Here is a very nice specimen of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This large trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached, which is somewhat unusual. The prone bug has been prepared with an air-abrasive machine to preserve the fine detail of the exoskeleton. The brownish-black trilobite contrasts well with the gray matrix. It is nicely showcased on the natural-edged plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Wheeler Formation.
