This is a beautiful Middle Cambrian trilobite. It is a fabulous Elrathia kingi, found by Steve Hess in 1997 in the ''Red Beds'' of Utah. Although this species is one of the most prolific trilobites, this is an immaculate specimen. The trilobite is fully complete and perfectly articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The trilobite has been well prepared with an air abrasive machine - the detail is pristine. The red-brown bug contrasts beautifully with the pink-colored matrix. It is wonderfully showcased on the oblong plate of shale, that also has preserved a complete Baltagnostus, a few growth stage Elrathia, and an enrolled Elrathia (Rare!). Don't let the commonness of this trilobite fool you - this is a museum quality example of Elrathia kingi.
