This is an unusual specimen of Proetus granulosus from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite is tightly enrolled, which is uncommon for this type of trilobite. The robust bug is nicely articulated and exhibits good detail. The eyes are easily seen, and the individual pustules on the large, bulbous glabella are nicely displayed. The black trilobite contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The ancient arthropod is beautifully showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very displayable example of an enrolled Proetus from the Atlas Mountains.
