This is a centerpiece specimen for almost any trilobite collection. It is a very large Trimerus (Dipleura) dekayi from New York State. This classic type of trilobite has been hunted for many decades, but the site has only ever produced a handful of specimens this large. This specimen is very well articulated, except for the tail, which is slightly shifted (and the slight discoloration of the head is fully natural). The bug is extremely inflated and 3-dimensional, which just adds to its impressiveness and size. The fully outstretched trilobite is nicely centered and beautifully showcased on the rectangular plate of matrix - perfect for display. This specimen has it all - size, detail, and display quality. And it is easily one of the most sought-after trilobites from New York - not many US trilobites grow to be six and a half inches long!
