Here is a very attractive specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. This outstretched trilobite is somewhat inflated and wonderfully articulated. The compound eyes protrude above the flat, sleek carapace of the trilobite and display the individual lenses. The wide genal spines and the extremely-pointed caudal spine are easily seen. The dark-brown bug contrasts beautifully with the gray matrix. The fossil is well presented on the large plate of shale. This is a great example of this "classic" Silurian trilobite from the Rochester Shale.
