Here is an unusual specimen from the Edward Books Collection. This unidentified trilobite was found over twenty years ago in the Wolsey Shale of Montana. At first glance, this bug looks like a Glyphaspis capella, but it is somewhat different. It was found in a different stratigraphic zone than where the Glyphaspis are found. Both part and counterpart of the ancient arthropod are present. The detailed trilobite is well preserved in an outstretched position and is wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The bug has great color and contrast and is nicely presented on the somewhat rectangular plates of shale. This is a fine example of this unknown Cambrian trilobite from an old collection.
