This is a nice trilobite that we recently acquired from an old collection. It is a Brachyaspidion microps from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This type of trilobite has a somewhat rectangular cephalon with short genal spines, thirteen thoracic segments, and a small, rounded pygidium. This detailed trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The individual thoracic segments are clearly defined, and the broad, occipital spine is even intact. The inflated bug has very good color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a fine specimen of Brachyaspidion microps from the Wheeler Formation.
