This is a very rare trilobite. It is a Crassiproetus microgranulatus from the Devonian of Michigan. This type of Proetid trilobite has a large, smooth glabella and a faintly-ribbed pygidium. Both of these features are quite evident on this specimen. This trilobite is extremely inflated and exhibits fine detail. The eyes of the trilobite are easily seen, and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. The bug has very thick, dark-brown exoskeleton and contrasts beautifully with the light-gray matrix. The ancient arthropod is well centered on the large, sculpted block of limestone. This is a very displayable specimen of this highly uncommon trilobite from the Devonian of Michigan.
