This is a very nice specimen of Eldredgeia venustus from the Devonian of Bolivia. At one time, Bolivian trilobites were more readily obtainable. However, most of the local diggers got involved in the cocaine business which was much more profitable. Now, it is quite difficult to get specimens from this area. This trilobite is well preserved in a concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present, so both part and counterpart of the trilobite are intact. This trilobite is extremely robust and wonderfully articulated. The bug exhibits fine detail - even the individual lenses of the compound eyes are quite evident. The dark-brown color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored concretionary matrix. This is a very attractive example of Eldredgeia from South America.
