This is a fine specimen of Coronocephalus sp. from the Silurian of China. This type of trilobite has an extremely small, pustulose glabella and a huge pygidium. This trilobite is nicely preserved in a prone position and exhibits wonderful detail. The long genal spines are prominently displayed, and almost all of the thin pygidial spines are easily seen, which is quite remarkable. The fossil has outstanding yellowish-orange color and contrasts beautifully with the brownish-gray matrix. It is well presented on the somewhat rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very pretty example of this large Silurian trilobite.
