Here is a very interesting specimen from the Devonian of Ohio. There are two different trilobites composited on this plate. An enrolled Eldredgeops milleri is on the left side of the slab. On the right side of the slab is an example of Phacops crassituberculata. The difference between the two trilobites is principally in the shape, arrangement, and number of facets in the large compound eyes. Both specimens are very 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail. The individual lenses of the eyes are beautifully displayed. The dark brownish-black trilobites contrast beautifully with the light-colored matrix. This is a very pleasing specimen from the famous Silica Shale.
