Here is a very nice specimen of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached - which is somewhat unusual. The prone bug has been prepared with an air-abrasive machine to preserve the fine detail of the exoskeleton. The brownish-black trilobite contrasts well with the gray matrix. It is nicely presented on the somewhat rounded plate of shale. This is a very pretty example of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Wheeler Formation.
