This is a very nice specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York. This trilobite is very inflated and wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. It is well articulated and exhibits great detail. Both free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The thick brownish-black exoskeleton of the bug contrasts beautifully with the gray matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of Calymene niagarensis from the Rochester Shale.
