This is a fabulous US trilobite. It is an outstanding example of Cyphaspis carrolli from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma. This species of trilobite has an extremely bulbous glabella and very slender genal spines. A long thoracic spine emanates from the sixth segment. This spine has been meticulously prepared in a free-standing manner on this specimen. This trilobite is extremely large for the type, and is wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is superbly articulated and exhibits great detail. All of the spines are intact to the very tips and beautifully displayed. The fine pustules on the glabella are easily seen, and the knob-like eyes are quite evident. The trilobite has thick, caramel-colored exoskeleton that contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. It is well centered on the large (3.5'' X 4.8''), somewhat rectangular block of limestone. This is a fantastic specimen of Cyphaspis that will never have to be upgraded.
