Here is an unusual Moroccan trilobite. This is a Treveropyge prorotundifrons from the Devonian. The defining characteristic of this trilobite is the extremely large eyes that protrude way above the carapace. This outstretched trilobite is complete and quite inflated. It is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail. The HUGE eyes are quite nice - most of the individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen. The pointed pleural spines and pygidial spines are clearly defined. The natural color of the bug contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The ancient arthropod is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is a very pleasing example of Treveropyge from Morocco.
