This is an excellent specimen of Isotelus gigas from the Ordovician of Canada. This type of trilobite differs from the more common Isotelus mafritzi in lacking genal spines. This trilobite is quite large for the type and wonderfully articulated. The fine detail of the bug is easily seen. The dark brownish-black trilobite contrasts superbly with the grayish matrix. It is beautifully presented on the large, unbroken plate of limestone. This is a very displayable example of Isotelus gigas from Canada.
