Here is a very nice Asteropyge sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. The 3-dimensional bug is well preserved in a slightly arched position. It is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail. Under magnification, the individual lenses of the large, crescent-shaped, compound eyes are easily seen. The genal spines have been prepared in a free-standing position, and the pointed lappets of the pygidium are clearly defined. The dark, chocolate-brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-brown matrix. The ancient arthropod is well presented on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very attractive Asteropyge at an extremely low price.
