This is an uncommon European trilobite. It is an Ellipsocephalus polytomus from the Cambrian of Sweden. This trilobite is complete with both free cheeks intact, which is HIGHLY unusual. The bug is nicely articulated and exhibits fine detail. The individual thoracic segments are clearly defined, and the almost smooth cephalon is easily seen. The fossil has very good color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is the best example of this species of Ellipsocephalus that we have ever seen.
