This is a rare US trilobite. It is a Paciphacops birdsongensis from the Lower Devonian of Tennessee. This trilobite is wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position - most of the time this type of trilobite is found enrolled or somewhat disarticulated. It is extremely unusual to find this trilobite in a prone condition. This well articulated trilobite exhibits great detail. The granulose nature of the large glabella is clearly defined, and the individual lenses of the compound eyes are all intact and beautifully displayed. The bug has outstanding color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains two brachiopods. This is an outstanding specimen of Paciphacops birdsongensis from Tennessee.
