Here is a nice US trilobite from a location that is no longer open to collecting. This is a fine example of Odontocephalus aegeria from the Devonian of Pennsylvania. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1982, and just now prepared. This somewhat laterally compressed trilobite is quite prone, which is highly unusual. The exoskeleton is extremely well preserved - most specimens of this trilobite do not have the ''shell'' intact. The ''cowcatcher'' on the front of the cephalon is beautifully displayed, and even the individual lenses of the eye are clearly defined. The 3-dimensional bug has great color and contrast and is well presented on the large, sculpted block of matrix. This is a nice example of this highly sought-after trilobite from the Devonian.
