This is an extremely rare trilobite that we acquired from the Edward Books Collection in 1988. It is a Paradoxides davidis trapezopyge from the Middle Cambrian of Newfoundland, Canada. This type of trilobite is featured prominently in the book ''Trilobites'', by Ricardo Levi-Setti. This specimen is quite large (almost 9 inches long!) and complete - the cephalon, thorax, and pygidium are all present. Even the long pygidial spines are wonderfully displayed. The trilobite has very good color and contrast and is well centered on the large plate of shale. Although this is not a spectacular example, it is a nice representation of this very obscure Cambrian trilobite found decades ago.
