This is a great trilobite. It is a large, enrolled Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. The bug is almost 5.5 inches around the curve! This specimen was beautifully prepared, free of matrix, in the EXTINCTIONS prep lab here in Walsenburg, Colorado. This trilobite is extremely inflated and exhibits absolutely no crushing or deformation, whatsoever. The extremely thick exoskeleton exhibits excellent detail - the pustulose nature of the trilobite is wonderfully displayed. The compound faceted eyes are very nice - most of the individual facets of the eyes are clearly defined. The trilobite comes with its own special plate of matrix (not pictured) on which the trilobite can be displayed. This is a fantastic example of an enrolled trilobite.
