This is an aesthetic specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Rochester Shale of New York. The trilobite is perfectly prone and exhibits fine detail. The long genal spines are quite evident and the caudal spine is easily seen. The crescent-shaped eyes protrude above the "sleek" carapace of this wonderfully articulated trilobite, and even the individual lenses of the eyes are well preserved. The brownish-black bug contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. This is a very good example of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian.
