This is an extremely uncommon trilobite. It is an Acaste downingia from the Silurian of England. Silurian trilobites from England are among the most sought-after trilobites among collectors. This type of Phacopid trilobite has a semicircular cephalon with protruding, compound eyes and a Proetid-like pygidium. This trilobite is quite inflated and nicely preserved in an outstretched position. The dark brown bug contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. It is well-centered on the somewhat oval plate of limestone. This is a fine example of this rare ''Dudley Bug'' from the Wenlock.
