This is a fine specimen of an unusual trilobite. It is a Cyphaspis carrolli from the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma. This trilobite is well preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is tightly articulated and exhibits great detail. Both free cheeks are intact and attached, and even the tiny pygidium is present. The thin genal spines and the long thoracic spine have been meticulously prepared in a free-standing manner for optimal display. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well presented on the somewhat rectangular plate that also contains a partial Kettneraspis trilobite. This is a nice example of this uncommon trilobite from the Haragan Formation.
