Here is a nice trilobite that we recently acquired from the DeRosear Collection. It is a Calymene breviceps from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. Doug found this specimen twenty years ago and it has been in his collection ever since. The inflated trilobite is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached which is somewhat unusual for this type. The triangular pygidium is even intact (hard to see in photo). The small eyes are quite evident, and the granules on the glabella can be easily seen. The outstretched bug has gorgeous, natural coloration and is almost matrix-free. This is a fine example of Calymene breviceps from the Silurian.
