This is a beautiful spiny trilobite. Philonyx (Philonyx) is probably the most prized trilobite in the world. This specimen boasts over 50 free-standing spines, and the famous four-pronged snout is even free of matrix! It required meticulous preparation under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab (it takes longer to prepare a Philonyx than almost any other trilobite in the world.) The detail is excellent and the natural coloration is strikingly beautiful. This is definitely one of the largest and better quality ones we have had. It goes without saying that no trilobite collection is complete without a Philonyx of this quality. It is simply a World Class display fossil.
