This is a spectacular plate of trilobites from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Walsenburg, Colorado. An extremely 3-dimensional Phacops speculator is displayed on one end of the block of limestone. This trilobite is well articulated and exhibits extraordinary detail. The compound eyes are nearly perfect - all of the individual lenses are clearly defined. A complete Cyphaspis tafilaltense is also on the plate. This spiny trilobite is nicely outstretched and the fine detail of the trilobite is clearly defined. Both genal spines and the long thoracic spine have been meticulously prepared in a free-standing position for optimal display. The bugs have great color and contrast beautifully with the gray matrix. And best of all, they are completely natural to the plate - they have not been composited or altered! This is a stunning example of two different trilobites from the Devonian of Morocco.
